چکیده

The hypercalcaemia in association with trisomy 21 (Down's syndrome) is often not recognised and therefore underdiagnosed. Patients present the tetrad of hypercalcaemia, Down’s syndrome, renal impairment, nephrocalcinosis. 1-3
A 30-month old child syndrome had a long history nonspecific symptoms, constipation feeding difficulties. He was on excessive bottle feeds, taking 14 bottles daily, each six ounces milk. presented cardiac arrest having been unwell an acute illness. Blood tests showed hypercalcemia, raised urea creatinine which were explained by any other aetiologies. Post-mortem analysis pyelonephritis nephrocalcinosis.
In children early detection introduction low calcium feeds may prevent morbidity mortality. Awareness monitoring serum levels along routine thyroid function Down would be important to such occurrences.

Calcium Signalling: The Ups and Downs of Protein Kinase C

Oscillations in intracellular calcium levels control a plethora of physiological processes, but how they are decoded by a cell remains unclear. In a recent study, advances in FRET technology have been used to describe how calcium oscillations are decoded through phase-locked oscillations in substrate phosphorylation catalysed by protein kinase C.
